John Harris is a maritime historian and an experienced leader of academic conferences on naval and other topics. He has travelled extensively in the Caribbean during a career in the Merchant Navy and in small sailing craft. He teaches maritime history on a University of Oxford Summer School and recently completed an academic research project at English Harbour, Antigua.
