Zurich - Rosengart Collection (incl. lunch)
Zurich - Rosengart Collection (incl. lunch)
The Rosengart Collection is a hidden jewel, encompassing 300 works collected by Siegried Rosengart and his daughter, Angela. It includes 47 pieces by Picasso – paintings, drawings, sculpture, and ceramics, occupying the complete ground floor - as well as works by 23 other early 20thC painters: Chagal, Miro, Bonnard, Cezanne, Matisse, Modigliani, etc. Interestingly, for those of you who attended our recent Club event in Bern, there are also 125 works by Paul Klee. The Rosengart Collection is just 3 minutes’ walk from Luzern main railway station, and few people know the gallery exists!
The Collection is housed in a former Swiss National Bank branch, a fascinating building architecturally, historically, and also with regard to how the building was sensitively adapted to house this important collection. For more information visit.
There will be an optional (public) guided tour, in German only, meeting in the reception area at 11:30. The cost of admission to the Collection is 20chf, and the optional tour is 8chf in addition. Raiffeisen and Swiss Museum Pass cards are valid, but not for the tour.
At 13:00, we meet for lunch at Ristorante Pizzeria Weisses Kreuz, a short walk away, at Furrengasse 19, 6400 Luzern. The reservation is for 20 people only, and everyone will pay for themselves.
