This prestigious fixture dates back to 1872 for the men’s game and 1988 for the women’s, making it one of the longest-running sporting rivalries in the world. Representing either university in a Varsity Match earns players the esteemed title of a ‘Blue’, the highest sporting accolade within Cambridge and Oxford.

Since 2024, the matches have been held at StoneX Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club, one of England’s leading rugby teams. The event attracts a global audience of students, alumni, and rugby enthusiasts, both in the stadium and via livestreaming to over 50,000 viewers worldwide.
