Somerset - Lunch with Talk on Bhopal 1984
Our speaker on this occasion will be John Dawer. His subject is “Bhopal 1984: The world’s worst industrial disaster.” At the time of the disaster, John was a young undergraduate living in a nearby seminary. He is able to give a fascinating eye witness account of what happed in Bhopal when a highly toxic gas drifted across the city, affecting nearly half a million residents. This disaster in India indicates a need for enforceable international standards for environmental safety, preventative strategies to avoid similar accidents and industrial disaster preparedness.

It is clearly visible on the southboumd side of the A38 west of Wellington. Either from Wellington town centre or from the A38 Wellington by-pass, the Inn comes soon after the roundabout where the two routes merge, and is on the left immediately after the railway bridge. If you are travelling by the A38 from the west, turn right at the signpost for Sampford Arundel and immediately left into the Inn car park.
