Hereford - A guided visit to the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo
This is a rare opportunity to visit the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo in the company of a renowned lepidopterist, Dr David Smith (Trinity Hall, 1953) and to hear him talk about his research after luncheon at The Old Court Hotel, opposite. Places are limited so you are advised to book early.
If you would like to join us for this event, but transport is an issue, please contact Satyam, whose details are on the booking form.
Dr David Smith, formerly Head of Biology and Curator of the Natural History Museum at Eton College, is a world authority on the African Queen having researched it for over 50 years. He was the first author of a ground-breaking paper, published in 2016 in the Proceedings of the Royal Society, which “…demonstrated for the first time how a complex interplay between sex, colour pattern, male-killing and chromosomes set up a genetic ‘sink’ that keeps two subspecies apart.”
