In January 2023 Professors Mike Searle and Bruce Levell will be leading a geological and environmental tour of the spectacular Oman Mountains, which will include some of the most impressive geological sites in the World.

In this talk, enjoy a journey with Professors Searle and Levell as they introduce a number of these world wonders, including some of the largest and best preserved ophiolite sequence (a slab of oceanic crust and upper mantle emplaced onto the Arabian continental margin between 95 and 70 million years ago), comprising of the Moho, pillow lavas and sheeted dykes.

They will also explain about the beautifully preserved Mesozoic passive margin along some spectacular deeply incised wadis including the 'Grand Canyon' Wadi Nakhr.

This talk is organised by Indus Experiences, tour operator partner for Cambridge Alumni Travel programme.

Mike Searle will be the trip scholar on an Alumni Travel programme tour to Oman in January 2023.
