We are delighted to confirm that our 150th Anniversary Alumni Day and Dinner will be held on Friday 24 January 2025, with doors opening at 1.30pm.

The day will feature engaging talks, tours, refreshments, a drinks reception, and a celebratory dinner in the stunning dining hall of Peterhouse. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni, reflect on the Cavendish research legacy you helped shape, and enjoy a memorable day in excellent company.

You'll have the chance to learn about current research and teaching at Cavendish, share your experiences since leaving the University, and explore how our community continues to innovate and inspire.

This event will offer an opportunity to bid farewell to the old Cavendish buildings that have served generations of physicists over the past 50 years. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to visit our state-of-the-art new home, the Ray Dolby Centre.

Event Programme:

1:30 PM: Registration with refreshments (tea and coffee)

2:00 PM: Welcome and research talks from Cavendish academics and students

3:00 PM to 4:30 PM: Choose from a variety of activities, including hands-on activities and tabletop experiments (suitable for both children and adults), Cavendish collection tours (self-guided), lab tours (including the Ray Dolby Centre) and social time with former peers and colleagues

Some groups, including Astrophysics, TCM, Optoelectronics and the TFM/Cowburn/Bland groups, will also be welcoming alumni in their ‘areas’ during this time.

4:45 PM: Research talks session #2

5:45 PM to 6:45 PM: Drinks reception

7:30 PM for 8:00 PM: Dinner at Peterhouse, for those who have purchased dinner tickets
