Cambridge Society of Cheshire and North Wales - Sustainable Aviation
Cambridge Society of Cheshire and North Wales - Sustainable Aviation
Dr Joanna Bauldreay is active in many international aviation committees and has championed synthetic blending components (SBSs) for aviation fuels for over 20 years, which involves close cooperation with airframers (Airbus, Boeing) and aeroengine manufacturers (Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney, General Electric) plus all who make or test or use aviation fuels.
Aviation needs to become more sustainable (what does that mean?) but how and why? 2025 sees the UK introducing a mandate to use 2% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for all flights within and departing the UK, with the target levels increasing year on year to help reach Jet Zero aspirations. SAFs are just part of the sustainability solution and while the talk will focus on SAFs, Joanna will discuss other options for the aviation industry.
