Brussels - Boat Race event
Brussels - Boat Race event
Alumni and guests are invited to join the Cambridge Society of Belgium for their Boat Race event, taking place at the Wild Geese.
The Women's Race starts at 15:46 and the Men's at 16:46 (all times Brussels), so come along to wave the flag and enjoy the race.
Our esteemed member and resident coxswain Robert Stanbury has organised a simple sweepstake for this event based on the best estimate for the winning Boat Race time. The Prize: a bottle of ‘pop’ for whomever comes closest to predicting the race timing. Tide, land water, wind, race outcomes, and other factors are all determinants. Robert also sent us the attached document giving us a great insight of the boat races of yesteryear. Thanks for everything Robert!!!
Plenty of scope for both modern algorithms and old-fashioned savvy! (We all know who’s getting thrashed as usual).
We have arranged to meet in the rear bar of the popular Irish pub “The Wild Geese” and hope lots of you will be coming to join us to cheer on Cambridge – funny hats, flags and face-paint are encouraged! The Wild Geese https://www.thewildgeese.eu/ is situated in the heart of the European quarter, with excellent public transport and easy parking. On Sundays it’s a lively and popular place to hang out, with an all-day brunch served. Why not check out their website and make a day of it?
Come join to cheer our Cantab girls and lads on, snickering at our Oxonian friends who will be wetting the carpet as the Cambridge teams speed down the Thames into glorious victory while the others are still kicking the cobwebs off their rafts.
We hope to see many of you there sporting our colours!
